Michael Rosen writer of childrens books – you might describe Michael Rosen as this but not only is he a fantastic writer and a famous poet, he is a radio presenter, performer – and a very busy man, appearing at schools, libraries, colleges and festivals all over the country. Thats not to mention his media appearances, videos and other live performances such as his show on Radio4
Michael Rosen was born in Harrow on May 7th 1946, which means that he has a birthday very soon! Happy Birthday to him!
We looked into his background to see where he may have got his flare for writing and performing and we found out that Michael Rosen’s parents were teachers and his father was fond of singing songs, poetry and plays. And that it was at University where he studied English Language and Literature that he wrote his first book called Backbone, which was on at the Royal Court Theatre in London. After leaving university and working for radio and television he eventually wrote his first children’s book in 1974 which was called Mind Your Own Business, since then he hasn’t looked back. Its all been writing books, promoting them, appearing in schools, writing for magazines, appearances all over.
